TT&C Antennas

forme 1
Anywaves S-Band TT&C antennas are used in the subsystem that provides the telemetry, tracking & command links between the satellite and the ground station.

In your space mission, the tracking function will allow you to accurately determine your spacecraft’s position and velocity.

The command function involves transmitting commands to the spacecraft to pilot and adjust its trajectory. This link has a great importance starting from the launch of the satellite and up to the end of the mission. To ensure that you will be able to communicate with your spacecraft, our antennas have a wide beam, an excellent axial ratio at high elevations and a full-coverage of the TT&C S-Band. In order to answer to your needs, we have carefully designed two different antennas, our TT&C S-Band antenna and our compact TT&C S-Band antenna.

Both of them provides a hemispherical coverage, a circular polarization and a full-duplex telemetry and telecommand. The compact S-Band antenna offers a slimmer design and better performance at wide elevations. We also offer a test cap that will allow you to perform end-to-end radio frequency tests directly on your satellite.

Testing Process

In order to guarantee the durability and functionality of our antennas under the severe environmental conditions they will encounter from launch to orbit, we conduct a series of rigorous tests. These tests include qualification tests and acceptance tests. The purpose of the qualification tests is to demonstrate that one or more models of the product can withstand the various life cycles of a space product. On the other hand, acceptance tests are carried out on each flight model to ensure that the product delivered to the customer is functional and durable.

Industrialization

Our industrialization process for TT&C space antennas is designed to ensure that we deliver high-quality products to our customers in a timely and efficient manner. To achieve this, we have streamlined our production processes to ensure that we can effectively manage large-scale production while maintaining strict quality control measures. We believe that by adhering to the principle of “less is more,” we can produce space antennas that are both innovative and reliable.

Flight Heritage

Over the past years, Anywaves has successfully launched several S-Band antennas into space, providing us with valuable experience and knowledge that will benefit all of our TT&C products. We take pride in our product design history, as it demonstrates our ability to rapidly progress from prototype designs to fully operational flight models.

Q&A

What does TT&C stand for?

In the space industry, TT&C stands for “Telemetry, Tracking, and Command.” TT&C refers to the communication and control processes involved in monitoring and managing spacecraft. Telemetry involves collecting and transmitting data from the spacecraft to the ground station, tracking involves accurately determining the spacecraft’s position, and command refers to sending instructions or commands from the ground station to the spacecraft. TT&C is crucial for spacecraft operations, ensuring efficient communication, monitoring, and control of the mission.

What are the key features of a TT&C antenna?

Our TT&C (Telemetry, Tracking, and Command) antennas at ANYWAVES offer a range of key features that make them ideal for space communication. These features include wide beam radiation patterns, ensuring reliable data transmission and reception. Our antennas are designed to operate within the S-band frequency range, enabling efficient communication with spacecraft. They are built using high-quality materials and robust construction to withstand the demanding environmental conditions of space missions. With their exceptional performance, durability, and compatibility with TT&C systems, our S-band antennas provide reliable and efficient communication links for space applications.

Do you propose an EM (Engineering Model) and/or a FM (Flight Model) item?

As on all our products, we propose two different versions for our TT&C antennas: an engineering model and a flight model. Both have the same electrical performances as they use the same materials and processes. On flight models, we perform meticulous and rigorous acceptance tests.

What are test caps useful for? Can I use your test caps on any antenna?

A test cap is the perfect tool to simplify your antenna testing process. It allows highly reproducible measurements in all your environments such as clean rooms or thermal chambers. Using this equipment eliminates the need for RF tests to be carried out in an anechoic chamber, saving you significant amounts of time and money.

However, it’s important to note that our test caps are specifically designed for use with ANYWAVES antennas. Due to variations in antenna designs and specifications among different suppliers, we cannot guarantee compatibility with antennas produced by other suppliers. To ensure optimal protection and performance, we recommend using our test caps exclusively with ANYWAVES antennas, as they are tailored to fit our specific antenna models.

I don’t know which TT&C antenna to buy, can you help?

Absolutely! At Anywaves, we understand that choosing the right TT&C (Telemetry, Tracking, and Command) antenna can be a complex decision. Our team of experts is here to assist you in finding the perfect solution. By understanding your specific requirements, such as frequency bands, gain, beamwidth, and mechanical constraints, we can provide personalized recommendations from our range of TT&C antennas. We are committed to helping you select the optimal antenna that meets your needs for reliable communication and control with your spacecraft. Feel free to contact us for expert guidance and support in choosing the right TT&C antenna.

Are your TT&C antennas in reception or in emission?

Our TT&C (Telemetry, Tracking, and Command) antennas are designed to handle both reception and emission functions. They are versatile antennas capable of receiving telemetry data from the spacecraft, tracking its position, and transmitting commands to control its operations. This dual-functionality enables effective communication and control between ground stations and space missions. Our TT&C antennas are engineered to provide reliable reception and emission capabilities, ensuring seamless and efficient data exchange for your space applications.

Is the EIDP (Engineering Item Data Package) included? What does it contain?

Yes, the EIDP (Engineering Item Data Package) is included with our ANYWAVES antennas. The EIDP contains comprehensive documentation that provides essential technical details and specifications of the antenna. It typically includes :

  • Acceptance test reports
  • ICD (Interface Control Document)
  • Mechanical envelope
  • User Manual
  • Certificate of conformity

We ensure that the EIDP accompanies each antenna purchase to support your integration and operational needs.

Can I buy a single antenna or is there a minimum order? How quick can I receive my order?

Whether your project is big or small, we can provide a single EM antenna for testing as well as cater for volume orders. Depending on your lead time and our availibility, we may even be able to ship it within a few days!
